Well there's 3 weeks to wait for a phonecall, here's hoping.

I'll just need to make sure my phone is always charged and in my pocket.

And another call this morning, in which the caller seemed to think my start date was Dec 3, and was unaware of the previous call that changed it to Nov 5! He said he couldn't confirm my start date but that it will be in my welcome pack. This is NOT reassuring. The words "pissup" and "brewery" spring to mind...

Eurocentral is an outhouse (empty warehouse with plenty loading and unloading places ),, last year it opened on the 4th nov, and closed on the 23rd dec,, i wouldnt think all mail centres start dates would be brought forward.

Not quite, RM's Eurocentral outhouse opened on October 31 last year. I know, because I was there! :)

When I missed that call I phoned the Royal Mail Xmas number, sent them emails, stupidly tried the Anguard number, and even phoned the depot where I had my registration, but none of them could give me contact details for the person in charge of shifts.

Maybe I'll be lucky and have an early start in my welcome pack.

...and having received my welcome pack this morning, I can now confirm that my start date is...

...not in the welcome pack! I wish I could say I'm surprised. I'm just gonna go on November 5 and hope they have my name down.

I had a missed call from a withheld number - FML.

Why can't they leave a message or something?


If they don't phone again, do you think I'd be able to wing it and just show up on the 5th? Is there anyone I should try phoning?

They will have a list of the names for that start date + they will have security passes with your pic on them. Remember to take ID driving licence or passport and your Royal mail start date letter... There were 2 guys last year who turned up did a morning shift only to be told that they were not supposed to start for another 3 weeks (eurocentral) I think most on here have a start date of the 19th Nov.....Last year i got a call to start 2 weeks earlier. Just keep your phone on you at ALL times . As someone said they phone you around lunchtime...happened with me. Good luck if you get a 5th start date. more money for christmas pressies.
