The bespoke Christmas gift for seven-month-old Phoebe was made of her first baby clothes and included a recording of her heartbeat
A young family are appealing for help after a bespoke teddy bear bought as a Christmas gift for their baby daughter was lost by Hermes at their Rugby sorting hub.
Hannah Monaghan of Bury, Greater Manchester, ordered seven-month-old daughter Phoebe a unique teddy bear for her first Christmas.
The bespoke item, made by Bonny Bears in Barry, south Wales, was a bear made up of the clothes baby Phoebe first-ever wore, designed to be the exact weight she was when she was born.
It also contained a heart, made up of the clothing, which had a recording of the tots actual tiny heart beat.
However, the item went missing in transit while being couriered by Hermes. Its last recorded location was the company's sorting hub in Rugby,Warwickshire.
When chased by Hannah, Hermes told her it had been lost, and advised her to re-order the item. However, as the teddy is made of Phoebe's first ever clothes, it is quite literally irreplaceable.
Hannah told CoventryLive: "I feel a mixture of anger, frustration - I can get quite upset. I'm desperate to find it.
"It's really sentimental to us. The three suits that make the bear up were given to me by a friend as we were struggling to find clothes small enough when Phoebe was born.
"Hermes just told me it's lost and to order a replacement - they just don't seem to understand how valuable it is.
"This is just hanging over me. I'm a pretty anxious person anyway and this isn't helping - lockdown isn't helping either so I do get upset as it's another thing out of my control."
Hannah hopes appealing to people to keep an eye out for the item might help.
"I want people to try and help as it has to be somewhere," she said. "Hermes have told me there isn't some big incinerator that burns all the lost parcels so it has to be somewhere.
"If it's been stolen I don't get it as it's of no use to anyone else. It might have been lost or delivered to the wrong address and is just sitting in someone's house somewhere.
"I know it might seem insignificant with everything else that is going on, but if we find it, it would give everyone a bit of hope."
