Buyer claims £104 contents were smashed to pieces after being dumped over a garden gate by a Yodel delivery driver

A Yodel delivery driver was caught on CCTV dumping a customers parcel over a garden fence in Cleethorpes - smashing the pot inside to smithereens.

The parcel, which contained a £104 Peony Faux Bamboo Plant in a terracotta pot, was delivered over the back fence as the customer walked her dog on October 10.

A video of the event shows a delivery driver dangle the large parcel from the top of the back gate in an attempt to ease it onto the ground.


The delivery driver then dropped the package onto its side, destroying the contents.

The customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "I'd taken the dog on a walk for around 20 minutes and when I got home there was no card or anything to tell me the parcel had been delivered.

"Only when I looked out of the garden did I realise it had arrived. It was quite heavy so it was hard to bring it inside.

"When I opened it it was completely smashed to bits. Then we watched on CCTV and saw he had just dropped it over the fence.

"I was shocked. He tries to lower it down but when he cannot reach he just drops it. It's funny because it's so ridiculous. I just laughed.

"I tweeted them and told them what happened but I do not feel like they have been helpful."

The customer also told MailOnline they would not consider using Yodel again - despite receiving a full refund for the broken product.

A spokesman for Yodel said: "The safe delivery of parcels is our absolute priority and we are disappointed to see this driver breaking our strict protocols.

"This behaviour clearly does not meet the high standards we expect from our colleagues and we will be taking appropriate action. We have contacted the customer to apologise and sent flowers as a gesture of goodwill."
