TRIBUNAL RULING City Link has been blasted for failing to notify staff of its redundancy plans, after the courier firm went bust in 2014 and employees found out through media reports on Christmas Day.

Companies are required by law to give at least 45 days’ notice and launch a consultation if they are planning to dismiss 100 or more staff.
The tribunal found that City Link, which was owned by Better Capital, had made a ‘conscious decision’ not to inform staff, and ordered the 709 former employees be paid £3,800 each.
