Using a toy gun, a 27-year-old man held up a PTT post office in the town of Tuzluca in Turkey’s northeastern province of Iğdır. Running off with 12,200 Turkish lira ($4,215) stolen from the tellers, he was soon apprehended after accidentally running to the nearby police station.

The incident occurred Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. local time (5:30 a.m. GMT). The man, Oktay Y. (27), entered a PTT post office branch in the Tuzluca city center and held it up with gun. He then ran off after acquiring 12,200 Turkish lira ($4,215) from the tellers.

The robber then accidentally ran right past the front entrance of the Tuzluca Police Station, where the officers on duty noticed him and opened fire into the air. Terrified, he quickly dumped the money and his firearm by the banks of a nearby creek before surrendering himself to the authorities.

The police immediately recovered the money and the gun, which turned out to be a black-colored toy gun.

Oktay Y. is now being questioned at the police station.
