A Yodel delivery driver was attacked after he undertook another motorists on the Edinburgh bypass.

The incident happened at around 4.30pm on Friday when a 53-year-old man was driving a Yodel white Ford Transit van on the A720 City bypass and undertook a silver Mitsubishi shogun.

As the van stopped in traffic near the Lothianburn junction, the male driver of the shogun got out of his car and approached the van.

An altercation took place, resulting in the driver of the Yodel van being assaulted. The suspect then made off in his Shogun.

As a result of the incident, the van driver was unable to drive off, causing a hold up on the A720.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward who may have information that can assist.

Constable Declan Fitzpatrick from the Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault of the van driver, or has further information on the driver of the Shogun to come forward to police.

“This incident ultimately caused considerable disruption to traffic on a Friday afternoon, while the victim received minor cuts and brusing to his face. Those with information should contact Police Scotland on 101.”
