Evri delivery driver resigns after Oxfordshire complaints

An Evri delivery driver resigned after complaints about missing parcels on an Oxfordshire estate.

People living in the Wellington Gate community in Grove said their Evri deliveries in early December have gone missing, been thrown into gardens without care and been delivered to the wrong addresses.

This newspaper has seen multiple reports of householders frustrated by their missing parcels in the run-up to Christmas Day.

One woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said hundreds of parcels had gone missing on the new-build estate that was once Grove Airfield and that she had complained to the company about it.

She said: “A lot of people are going to have a bad Christmas and the companies using their service are just not hearing the complaints.”

Meanwhile doorbell footage seen by this paper shows a package being thrown onto a doorstep without the driver leaving the car.

Following the complaints, it is understood the delivery driver for the estate has resigned.

Reportedly family members helped him to deliver parcels after his car broke down, delaying deliveries and meaning he had to work into the night.

In addition, technical issues have also been reported.

Indeed, writing on social media one anonymous resident said there was a “logistics problem” with Evri.

Responding to the issues on the Grove estate, Evri apologised for any disruption and said it is in the midst of delivering "four million parcels everyday to communities the country".

The business added: “Every parcel matters to us, and we’re disappointed when a courier fails to care for a parcel as if it were their own.

"The vast majority of our 34,000 couriers are hardworking members of the local community and take pride in their work.

“We apologise for any local disruption. We have a new courier in place in the area, and we’ve already seen lots of positive feedback from customers."

The spokesperson said the company would continue to "closely monitor service" to ensure it meets their standards.

The issue in Grove comes within the context of several local issues about Evri’s delivery service.

The Salisbury Journal has reported a courier has been sacked after a large number of parcels went undelivered.

According to the paper, Tish Burbidge, a pensioner, said she has had up to seven parcels go missing, and she says it is "extraordinarily annoying."

In response to that incident, Evri said: "A third-party contractor was supporting with deliveries in the area, but they didn’t meet our standards, and so they will no longer be delivering on behalf of Evri.”
