Delivery 'nightmare' as furious Huddersfield Evri customers watch parcels 'fly over fences' and fail to be delivered

Several customers from Huddersfield have come forward with complaints

Parcels being "launched with violence" over fences and left "damaged and undelivered" are among the complaints about "circus" delivery services in the run-up to Christmas across Huddersfield.

Delivery service Evri has apologised for the quality of their delivery, including "dumping a village's worth" of parcels in one location and "lobbing" a parcel over a 6ft fence, stating they have a "zero-tolerance policy" towards such behaviour. The first complaint came from an upset resident in Lepton, Huddersfield, concerned that multiple parcels had "just been dumped on the dirt track" outside of a neighbour's house, with parcels for numerous others "not even close" to the same address.

Furious customer, Amy, told YorkshireLive: "I do not know what to do, at this time of year it's unacceptable and just plain and simply wrong, I have lost faith in getting an honest person to deliver my goods.

"Due to the weather conditions, we took these parcels in and tried to locate them with their owners. With little time, we tried the closest house to us, Knotty Lane and could not locate the owner after several attempts at other properties. We had to then give up and go home."

Amy explained that in the process, the parcels had also been damaged. Amy said: "This is criminal, they are just dumping parcels which some were not even close to us here, and might I add, all parcels had all been slashed open. I am unsure if someone has been looking for goods, but they were all opened."

Days later, another woman from Cowersley complained that her parcel had been thrown over her 6-foot fence "Game of Thrones style" after she captured video footage of the parcel being delivered.

Disgruntled customer, Aimee Shaw, said: "My parcel was delivered. It wasn’t left in a safe place. It was launched with violence over my 6ft gate, like the driver was re-enacting the opening battle of Game of Thrones. I’m shocked there wasn’t a flaming arrow attached for dramatic effect. Evri doesn’t deliver parcels - they release them into the wild."

Responding to the fury, Evri assured that the "overwhelming majority" of its customers were happy with the quality of their deliveries.

A spokesperson for Evri said: We’re sorry that a small number of local residents have been impacted. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards this kind of behaviour, and the contractor used on the day to support deliveries will not be delivering on behalf of Evri again.

"We are committed to instilling a culture where every parcel matters and encourage those who work with us to treat every parcel like they would a family member. The overwhelming majority of our couriers are highly regarded by customers, with an average star rating of 4.6 out of 5. Any customers who need support can contact our customer service team.”
