EVRI says that it has taken action after parcels were 'dumped' by a delivery driver in Winchester.

A total of seven parcels were discovered in Tower Street, Winchester, late on Friday, October 17.

The parcels were discovered by Tower Street resident Jason Parker. He said: “They were just down from our house. They were in the street.

“Because we live in the city, we cannot really leave parcels, and we usually take them in and let our neighbours know we have them. When we got them inside, we found that they were all different addresses; they were not for Tower Street.

“Some delivery driver has just dumped them.”

The parcels were addressed to properties in Jewry Street, Falcon View, The Close and Stable Gardens, among others. When the parcel’s tracking numbers were entered on the Evri website, the parcels were listed as having been correctly delivered.

Mr Parker said: “We were going to contact everyone and ask them to come and get them.

“We want people to know, so Evri can buck their ideas.”

An Evri spokesperson said that the delivery driver in question has been fired.

They said: “Delivering great service is at the heart of what we do, and we’re sorry that this has fallen below the standards we expect on this occasion.

“We have investigated this with our delivery partner in the area and can confirm the courier in question will no longer be delivering on behalf of Evri. We apologise to those customers affected, and we would encourage anyone still needing support to contact us via evri.com/contact-us.”

This is not the first time that Evri has come under fire in the Winchester area.

As previously reported, residents of Barton Stacey, Sutton Scotney, Owslebury and Twyford have seen their Evri parcels disappear after being marked as delivered.

This was first recorded by Hampshire Police in late August, with an investigation being launched into the missing packages.

An Evri spokesperson said at the time: “Our ambition is that every customer’s experience is a positive one and we apologise to anyone affected by this.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy towards fraudulent behaviour, and anyone found acting in this way will be removed.

“Our people work incredibly hard to deliver almost 900 million parcels each year and the overwhelming majority of our 28,000 couriers are highly regarded by customers with an average star rating of 4.6 out of 5 this year.”
