Turnover moved closer to the £1.5bn mark at a prominent parcel delivery giant in what the company described as "another successful year". However, pre-tax profits declined by more than £60m after a one-off exceptional item.
DPD began life in the UK in 1970 as Courier Express, changing its name to Parceline in 1984 when it was acquired by Mayne Nickless of Australia. La Poste bought the business in 2000.
Newly filed accounts for DPD Group UK, which is headquartered in Smethwick, show a turnover of £1.48bn for the year to 29 December 2024, down from £1.47bn in 2023.
Despite this, pre-tax profits fell from £262.8m to £198.2m.
A statement signed off by the board said: "The 2024 period marked another successful year meeting stakeholder expectations whilst demonstrating resilience in challenging market conditions.
"The company achieved strong revenues, volumes and profits while maintaining exceptionally high service levels across its full spectrum of domestic and international services.
"The company's performance was achieved against the backdrop of a challenging economy, which affected customer demand for both domestic and international services and placed inflationary pressure upon both employee and supplier costs.
"Despite slower market growth conditions, the company still recorded encouraging levels of new business and upsells and delivered year-on-year growth in both parcels delivered and revenues received."
