Police are hunting for three men after a DPD driver was held at knifepoint before they took off with his parcels during an "extremely frightening ordeal".
The masked attackers, who were dressed in all black, ambushed the delivery man in broad daylight in Dagnall, near Berkhamsted, shortly after 9am on Saturday. Officers from Thames Valley Police rushed to the scene and found the victim, aged in his 50s.
A police spokesman said the masked men fled the scene in a vehicle. They added: "We are appealing for witnesses after a delivery driver was robbed at knife point yesterday/on Saturday. At just before 9.10am, the victim was in Main Road North, Dagnall when he was approached by three men wearing balaclavas.
"They threatened the victim with a knife and stole a number of parcels from the van. The offenders then left the scene in a vehicle. The victim, a man aged in his 50s, was not injured during the incident. The offenders were all wearing black clothing and balaclavas and so no further description is currently available."
Earlier this year, police released footage of a horrifying attack on another DPD driver, who was beaten to death by an armed gang. Aurman Singh, 23, was fatally injured by four men as he delivered parcels in Coton Hill, Shrewsbury, on August 21 last year. Doorbell footage, which was released in March this year, recorded Arshdeep Singh, 24, Jagdeep Singh, 22, Shivdeep Singh, 26, and Manjot Singh, 24, as they escaped the scene in two getaway cars.
They hatched the plot after they were leaked inside information on the driver's delivery route, police said. Four of the gang were found guilty of murder after a six-week trial at Stafford Crown Court. Sukhmandeep Singh, 23, from Paynels in Orton Goldhay, was found guilty of manslaughter.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Bellamy, of West Mercia Police, said at the time: “The attack on Aurman Singh was planned and organised by a group of men who armed themselves with weapons and used a level of violence that can only suggest they intended to kill him. They used inside information to pick a location where they knew he would be and lay in wait before carrying out the brutal attack in broad daylight. We are incredibly grateful for the support from local residents and those who provided vital information to assist with our investigation and gave evidence in court.”
