Staff members were reportedly escorted from a work place after being suspended. Three workers were allegedly removed from the DPD site on Shelton Boulevard in Etruria Valley.

It came after they were suspended from the delivery depot in Staffordshire for undisclosed reasons. Service standards at the delivery giant were reduced around the Christmas period, a spokesperson for DPD said.

Delays were experienced by customers and the next day delivery option was scrapped due to the added pressure of Royal Mail strikes. But the standards were now reportedly back to normal, StokeonTrentLive reports.

A spokesperson for DPD said: "We can confirm three members of staff have been suspended at our Stoke-on-Trent depot. We experienced some delays to deliveries in the Stoke-on-Trent area over the Christmas period.

"But we can confirm the service standards at the depot have now returned to the levels both we and our customers expect."
