The first day of the partial strike of two hours per day by postmen from Faro, to demand better working conditions, registered today a 60% adhesion, a union source told Lusa.
"Adherence to the strike was 60%, as we had estimated", José Oliveira, from the National Union of Postal and Telecommunications Workers (SNTCT) told Lusa.
The partial stoppage, which will take place daily between 8:30am and 10:30am, until February 7, was decided on Monday in a plenary session of workers at the Faro Postal Distribution Centre (CDP) and decreed by that Syndicate.
According to José Oliveira, the workers at the Postal Distribution Centre in the Algarve capital demand from CTT "better working conditions, namely the hiring of more professionals and changes in the shifts, in order to ensure a distribution of the postal service with quality in that City".
The unionist added that during the period of the strike, the postmen distributed to the population of Faro "documentation explaining the reasons for the strike, which, above all, has to do with improving the quality of the service they provide".
The postmen demand the hiring of six more professionals to ensure postal delivery in Faro and complain about work overload, which later affects the distribution of mail in the Algarve capital.
