Employees of Bulgarian Posts in Sofia, Burgas, and Ruse held a protest at 7:30 a.m., organized by the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria.
The union is demanding a 5% increase in basic monthly salaries from the state budget in sectors financed through subsidies. According to the union, wages of employees in the sector are close to the level of the minimum wage, reported BNR correspondent Natalia Ganchovska.
The demonstration is taking place on the day when pensioners in Bulgaria are scheduled to receive their pensions.
“Pensions will be paid out today, but employees remain ready for effective strike action,” said union representative Sabina Lazarova.
