SENT PACKING British courier firm collapses into liquidation after 14 years as Evri apologises over missed deliveries

A BRITISH courier company has officially entered liquidation, causing disruptions to deliveries.

The latest development caused delays for some Evri customers, with the parcel service apologising for the inconvenience.

Pedal and Post, an Oxford-based cargo company, formally appointed liquidators just weeks after the business was closed down in January.

Brett Lee Barton and Margaret Carter, of Walsall-based BK Plus, were appointed as joint liquidators to the 14-year-old company.

The courier service, which has expanded into London, was known for delivering parcels by bicycle, eliminating emissions and congestion in both areas.

Residents in Oxford reported delays in delivery to several parcels since the end of January, with some missing for “well over a week”, according to reports from This Is Oxfordshire.

Evri has apologised for any delays, assuring customers it is working to resume normal service.

A total of 60 employed and self employed Pedal and Post team members across Oxford and London have lost their jobs in the company’s collapse.

Chief executive and founder Christopher Benton said the loss of an unnamed “major client” earlier this year was the main reason for the collapse.

“Despite exploring every possible avenue to continue – and truly exhausting all options – we have reached the point where we can no longer sustain the business,” he said.

Benton went on to thank customers and staff for supporting the courier over the years.

“Since our founding, Pedal and Post has worked tirelessly to show that cargo bike deliveries are not just possible, but practical, sustainable, and better for cities,” he continued.

“Over 14 years, we’ve helped remove countless vans from urban roads, reduced emissions, and shown that a people-powered delivery model can deliver excellent service while putting cities first.”

Meanwhile, an Evri spokesman said: “We were disappointed to learn that our e-cargo bike delivery partner in Oxford ceased trading without notice, which caused some temporary disruption for a small number of customers in the local area.

“We have quickly re-organised deliveries in the area, and our local team are working hard to resume normal service.”
