Evri has sacked a courier after a man discovered seven of the company’s parcels dumped on the pavement near his home.
Andy Baker, 63, from Netley Abbey, came across the parcels scattered across the steps on Hound Road as he was leaving to meet friends at the Prince Consort pub.
Each parcel carried a different address, prompting Andy to take them indoors to protect them from the rain before attempting to contact Evri the following morning.
But despite making several calls and sending multiple emails, he found he could only reach an AI chatbot that was unable to help.
Online tracking information added to the confusion, with some parcels marked as delivered, others described as left in an outbuilding, and one even listed as being at the depot.
He said: "When I first saw the parcels I thought somebody had dropped litter across the floor.
"I didn’t want to leave them in the rain so I took them inside. I took to the local Facebook page and lots of people were saying that their package had not arrived as they expected."
With no assistance from the company, Andy turned to Facebook to track down the rightful owners.

He added: "Two have now come and collected their parcels, I delivered three myself and two more I’m still set to deliver.
"Evri have been rubbish – the company have made no attempt to contact me or get the parcels in the right place.
"It’s a pretty poor service in my eyes and from what I have seen online this is far from the first time this has happened in Southampton."
Evri said the courier responsible had been dismissed.
An Evri spokesperson said: "Every parcel matters to us, and the overwhelming majority of our couriers provide an excellent service to their customers.
"This courier has not met our high standards and will no longer be delivering on behalf of Evri. Any customers who need support can contact our customer service team."
