Parcel delivery company Evri has announced the further strengthening of its network of ParcelShops this peak, with the rollout of its brand-new state-of-the-art label printers.
In readiness for what is forecast to be another record-breaking festive season, the parcel delivery company has collaborated with Zebra Technologies, a global leader in digitising and automating workflows to deliver intelligent operations, in the creation and installation of the new devices, giving customers “an even more seamless experience” when choosing to print their labels in store.
With completion of the rollout targeted for the end of this year, Evri said the launch of the new devices across a total of 7,000 locations further bolsters its continued commitment to its ParcelShop network.
In a first for Evri, the new print-in-store kiosk solution has been designed and built by Zebra to offer a zero-liner solution, meaning all labels printed are completely liner-less, further supporting ParcelShops in their sustainability efforts by reducing waste generation.
Additionally, shops are promised greater efficiency from the new devices, with up to 50% more labels per roll and variable sizing so stores only print what they need and the company said customers will benefit from a faster, more seamless service thanks to the new in-built premium technology.
With more labels per roll, fewer rolls are required for transport and storage, resulting in a reduction in shipping weight and helping to lower CO₂ emissions.
The rollout comes as part of a wider commitment by Evri to its ParcelShop and Locker network, which includes over 6,000 independent retailers, following an announcement earlier this year of its plans to double its existing 10,000-strong estate, reaching 25,000 locations by 2030, as part of a wider £50m investment.
Liam Rogan, head of ParcelShops and lockers at Evri, said: “We know that an increasing number of customers are looking for flexibility when it comes to sending and receiving their parcels, which is why our ParcelShop network is such a vital part of our business.
“We’re committed to ensuring that the shops that make up our estate are set up for success, not just as we enter our busiest trading period but also all year round, as well as striving to give our customers an even more seamless experience.
“We’re particularly excited about what we’ve been able to achieve by collaborating with Zebra, as it was important that we created a fully considered device that would provide long-term durability and efficiency as well as continue to improve on what we’ve done previously.”
Phil Sambrook, EMEA transport and logistics vertical lead – strategy, Zebra Technologies, said:
“We are pleased to support Evri in providing its customers with a flexible and elevated experience and progress its mission to be the most convenient way to send, receive and return parcels. The custom-built print-in-store kiosks, featuring our ET45 enterprise tablets and ZD621 linerless printers, will make work better every day for Evri’s frontline.”
