is anyone denying that Royal Mail have many problems as mentioned in this article ? what i dont understand is why cant the Government help RM out and secure its future [like it has tried to do with the banks ] . why cannot RM sort these problems out as a public company , why do we need to be part- privatised. has the private sector got such a fantastic record ?

The simple and shortened answer to your question is that someone, somewhere wants to make a mint out of the situation. Corruption right at the heart of the UK government.

got it in one. and who will pay- the workers with poorer pay and conditions and eventually the public with higher prices .

The banking whistleblower whose revelations forced the resignation of a senior Government adviser has called for Prime Minister Gordon Brown to go for his part in creating the financial crisis.

Paul Moore, who was sacked after raising concerns over excessive risk-taking at HBOS, said Mr Brown should be "held accountable for his failure to oversee the stability of the country".

Following his explosive evidence to the Commons Treasury Committee last week, Mr Moore said he is planning to send the MPs a further dossier of 30 documents which will point the finger of blame for the bust at Mr Brown.

After Mr Moore's revelations forced the resignation of the deputy chairman of the Financial Services Authority Sir James Crosby, Mr Brown told another parliamentary committee that HBOS's massive losses - estimated at more than £10 billion - were caused not by Government policy but by the bank's flawed business model.

But Mr Moore, who was head of risk at HBOS from 2002 to 2005, told the Independent on Sunday: "The failure goes right to the heart of the system - to the internal supervisory system and right to the top of government.

Well what the hell do :cfo & :lfo & :mfo know about the postoffice/royalmail more visually impaired leading those who know how to provide the service which our nation needs!

Think of all the projects Royal Fail have started....Consignia....Last Letter....Local Action Plan...."2 Delivery Firms"..."Single Delivery".... I could go on at a local level.....Than think about if those "projects" that actually have an "end result"...None...

Royal Mail,(in the words of the Hooper Report), "have failed to engage it's workforce".

even Hooper said that RM's Senior Mgt had failed to take their staff with them , even Hellfail were critical about the Plasma Propaganda TV's , that might ? work in a very US corporate sales style company but not Royal Failure .

Axeman is right , them and us works both ways especially with a unique brand of confrontation as the SNP put it . :lfo & :cfo's bonus system causes conflict .

Most of Royal Mails Problems are caused by too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Oh and the total mess up of competition.
I'm not against competition but how can it be fair if we have to deliver 3rd party mail at less than cost. With the amount of mail I deliver for TNT it would more than cover my wages on what they charge the companies concerned so why are they allowed to use our network ? simple much more profit for them to pay the 12p to 17p per item than it would be to pay a TNT postie to deliver it. My mate who's not a Royal Mail employee but usually has his finger on the pulse reckons it won't be long till there is major civil unrest if things carry on like they do, ie a government hell bent on privatisation of essential public services against the will of the people.

it's a bit like the last days of the Major Government , many know they will be on their way out in June 2010 when Lord Snooty and his Pals take over as the New Labour Project has fallen on it's inherent contradictions , so certain Ministers will be looking for directorships etc .

Look at Patronizing Pat , ex Health Minister - now linked to Boots and Boots Health Care and a few other lucrative jobs , she's hardly the only one . RMC's favourite Liverpudlian Connoisseur of Bakeries & Hostelries is allegedly promised a safe Labour Seat , look how New Labour neutralized Johnson , classic poacher turned gamekeeper .

I've seen mediocre Senior Managers ending up as millionaires by buying up company assets and then leasing them out before selling them to a bigger National to run a glorified racket in the aftermath of a botched privatization .
