Ahead of its half-year results on Thursday, Royal Mail’s parent company International Distributions Services received some early good news.
Ameriprise Financial, a Minneapolis-based asset manager and insurance giant, acquired just over 5 percent of the delivery business late last month.
The move means Ameriprise holds a stake in IDS worth around £116m, making it one of the company’s top 10 investors, but still well behind its biggest investor, billionaire Daniel Kretinsky, who runs through his Vesa Equity vehicle owns more than 26 percent.
It follows the US company’s recent results, which reported a rise in quarterly profits, giving a boost to its boss Jim Cracchiolo.
The US businessman is the highest paid chief executive in the state of Minnesota with £44.2 million.
Maybe the new IDS boss Martin Seidenberg would like a few tips on how he can increase the company’s profits and his own salary.
