It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

If it operates in the same way as the rest of RM then asking for advice would be a bit like asking the STASI to check out your phone line

To be fair, when I asked for help ( with clinical depression, and with no idea where I was on the NHS waiting list ) they did help and got me some counselling, to be unfair, they only paid for three sessions ( which the counsellor agreed was as much use as an elastoplast for a traumatic amputaion :cuppa ), but it was better than a kick in the goolies & the NHS came through with a date before the last session :pray

its bloody useless...
pretty much the same as anythign management think up.

i admit to having used it a few time at my Managers urging... most of the time you get someone who has no idea, and simply cant get you off the phone quick enough...
and on the rare occasion that you do get someone who will actually listen to you... they cant offer much help, nor (in my experience) can they understand any of the issues facing you as a RMG worker... i was told to get my manager to refer me to ATOS for help/treatment more specific to my requirements...
and as we all know ATOS are the biggest bunch of useless F***s...

dont misunderstand me... its a good idea that RMG offer confidential help to their staff if you/they dont feel able/willing to ask for more specialised help via your manager/ATOS or if its just not something that you think is that serious or prolonged... but in theory and in practice are very different things....

on a seperate occasion i called them and asked for advice as to what to do as i was concerned that a collegue was intending to harm themself while at work.. and didnt want to mention it to my manager as the other guy didnt work in my area so didnt want it getting passed about like chinese whispers... the reply i was given was "you cant do anything- dont try"

Legal signposting??????????
Whats that then?
Say I want to take Royal Mail to a tribunal because my manager is a bullying, sociopath with narcissistic personality disorder are they going to tell me how do go about it then......happy days! :nana
Also like the bit about manager coaching ...I bet that's just a voice recording on constant loop.....You must lapse,no cut off's allowed,do your Door to dustbins daily,I need a coffee etc etc.

New an relaunched...wow I'm thoroughly unimpressed. :cuppa
All our people. :left: :arrrghhh
Great place to work. :left: :arrrghhh
I need some self referring as I'm going to go postal.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/nation ... lping-hand" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The independent external support service for all employees has been relaunched, offering more help.

The confidential HELP service offers a wide range of support: counselling, by telephone, face to face or online; legal help through a call with an expert; practical help with advice on debts; manager coaching to help senior staff support their teams going through change; and physical health, providing lifestyle support.

The HELP number 0800 6888 777 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For more information, visit http://www.rmghelp.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. The website gives practical information and advice, as well as offering a work-life balance tool.

The personal HELP section has many articles covering most of the issues that can cause concern in life.

How it can help

One colleague was deeply affected by the trauma of a partner’s accident. Telephone counselling saw her recognise that she was withdrawing from ‘normal’ life and needed to examine how she was dealing with the situation. She was given practical assistance and advice regarding specialist equipment and disability payments. She is now back at work and her partner is making steady progress in his recovery.
