Letter to Branches
No. 370/2013
Ref: PTC/RE/srh/415
Date: 28 May 2013
TO ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS
Dear Colleague
RE: NATIONAL ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE
I attach an electronic copy of the new Royal Mail Group National Attendance Procedure which went live on 27 May, together with the associated guides and jointly agreed Questions and Answers. Hard copies of the procedure in booklet form are being mailed to Branches.
In light of concerns expressed during the Branch ballot, it has been agreed with Royal Mail to remove the guide on “How to Treat Absences Due to Accidents at Work”. This will no longer be part of the suite of guides available via the intranet. It will be used by HR Services in providing advice but will not be directly available to Line Managers. The policy guide has been amended to remove reference to this guide and managers considering whether or not an absence should be counted are now referred directly to the HR Advice Centre. It is felt that this would be helpful in ensuring an approach consistent with the terms of the agreement. A paragraph relating to “Absence Due to Accidents at Work” has been placed in the “Managing Short Term Absence and Informal Absence Review Discussions Guide”.
Any enquiries should be addressed to Ray Ellis’s department, quoting reference PTC/RE/srh/415. Email address: rellis@cwu.org
Yours sincerely
Ray Ellis
Assistant Secretary
