It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Meal breaks attendance length.
this is up on our noticeboard and im on a 5 hour contract, when the stupid DOM put the rota up to tell us what times we were meant to finish where, he would only give us 20 minutes break, anyway noticed this up on the notice board, grabed the manager and told him from now on im on a half hour break, so thats m,ean i will be finished at half 1 everyday, he grabbed the cwu rep and the rep told him straight, this is whats been given because the stupid DOM was insitant it was onver 5 hours 1 minute for half an hour break! anyway cheers:)

Re: Meal breaks attendance length.
Just noticed this post. Good to get a defintive breakdown on entitlement. I always thought I did not work enough hours to get a break. My DOM has never mentioned to me anything about this. I just work a 4 hour shift per day, delivery only. I've read that you can't take your break at the end of your shift. So how can I take my break when I'm out of the office apart from a few mins at the start and end of my shift?
What have I done to deserve this?

It's from The Way Forward Agreement. It's an old one. But some sections of it (including this one) are still valid. Although other parts of it have been superceeded by newer agreements.

I'm in similar situation. Are we supposed to sit on a street corner for 20 mins?Silly Sarah wrote:Just noticed this post. Good to get a defintive breakdown on entitlement. Re: Meal breaks attendance length.
When I work in box counter now and again....meal breaks are non existent...especially when I am on my own. On one day in particular I work from 6.00 am until 11.00pm (or even later) until when afternoon staff arrive...and then I have to do a pocket(delivery)..by which time I am very often f****d and stressed out....I have asked managers to help in the past when people start queuing up round the office....but hardly any of them come down...preferring to stay in their offices....I am only spare so do this duty now and again. The regular person who does it gets really stressed..as they could be fetching the firms mail/packets for couriers while dozens of impatient customers wait to have items sent or collect stuff!
So if I am on my own again...can I just stop work at say 9.30am..and tell the managers I am off for a break!?

Meal breaks attendance length.
Do these break times still stand?
My manager is claiming that I'm entitled to a 20-minute break for 4 hours, 30 minutes for 6 hours and and 40 minutes for 8 hours.
