Is this Agreement going to stop Managers forcing people to work over their time..........NO
Is this Agreement going to stop managers B & H members....................................NO
Is this Agreement going to stop RM interpreting the 2007 Agreement Their Way ..........NO

We were even told today that we have to work over and complete our rounds over the Christmas period because it's in our contract ( Exceptional Circumstances )
It took the Two who's wages we as members pay 18 Months to get to were we are now, and what have we got More Talking, sorry but i did as many others did and
trusted the Union to get a rock solid deal with no dubious or unambiguous phrases for RM to interpret any which way they choose.
Let's just be honest with ourselves, we had them and as in 2007 we let them off the hook and now while Billy & Dave sit around eating jammy dodgers trying to work out
a final draft it will be us the members getting s**t on all over again as RM push on with their unrealistic workloads and targets.

We don't actually have an agreement yet so I won't be prejudging the content.

The strikes have forced the business to take negotiation seriously, rather than the series of lectures they gave the union before the strikes. The business have gone from virtually de-recognising the union to being forced through our industrial muscle into serious negotiations.

It may be a huge leap of faith to trust RM, but it's a leap of faith the whole executive have taken together, they may be lemmings only time will tell.

If the executive have made a bad decision we will get the chance to let them know how we feel once a final agreement is presented.

It's time for patience, let the people we elected go into negotiation with our support, there's nothing worse as a rep than going out on a limb for the people you represent only to find that when you look back there's no one behind you. Give them a chance to get an agreement before all the carping starts.

And look what we have gone through.....................

We Have waited 18 Months,for CWU HQ to act.

Finally we got the union to take national action. And Then

we have been Picked on by management for striking.

we have Lost wages, ( i dread to think how much London and the other areas that held local strikes have lost.)

Made my family go without because i lost money ( No overtime ect )

And for what, for the union to try and put a spin on all of this and make me believe they have done a good job.............. WELL BOLLOCK'S.

Spartacus i mean you no disrespect and as i have said on here many times before i have nothing but respect for all the Rep's.
But this is the same crap we had in 2007 and i for one after reading the draft now have no confidence in the CWU at all, and believe me that is something it pains me to say.
We are now going to be bullied and harassed it to things like never before and if you refuse to see that, because you like me want to trust the union without question you are in for a very big shock SORRY !

I agree cos what we have now is a talking shop where local and national negotations resume.

So what happens when Royal Mail disagree to any proposals and it is taken throught he IR framework? Does any one know how long these things can take?

So if I am a rep and I sit down with management to reverse any Executive Action the manager strings me along for a few weeks as if we are making progress and then disagrees to my proposals at the last minute forcing me into a 1st stage disagreement...does this sound familiar Dave cos that is what RM have been doing to you for the last two weeks. By this it looks to an outside body that we are talking and the talks are "usefull" but meanwhile time marches on and before you know it we have hit January and RM turn to me and give it the Royal 2.
After all managers have been doing this to the union since April/May of this year.

I'm afraid i feel very negative about this and I feel that we should have kept the pressure on because RM were buckling at the knees and once again we have let them slip through our fingers.

I hope I am wrong and time will tell but I fear for us all now.

Have been in the job over 20 years and that piece of paper reads like the best deal we could ever have acheived in the circumstances.

It puts AGREEMENT back in to the changes, and not IMPOSITION.
Ok, I agree it appears like its only up until Xmas is over, but if management appear to the independent observers (ACAS) like they are not following the outlines of this agreement then it will be very clear.


For the past few months we have had a management approach to change that simply does not want to listen, or agree to anything the union says on behalf of its members. This will have to change or the industrial action continues.

We havent given up or been sold down the river....the industrial action ballots local and national still stand!
