Could you clear something up for me perhaps. I'm on a 22.5 hrs a week so 4.5 hours a day. If I take my break and get back 20 mins late (ie take 4hrs 50), are they supposed to still pay me 4hrs 30 or not, they try the unpaid breaks thing. But if say I go over because I have more parcels they still try and pull the unpaid break even if there was nowhere to use a loo.newpostie wrote: ↑22 Nov 2009, 15:24this is up on our noticeboard and im on a 5 hour contract, when the stupid DOM put the rota up to tell us what times we were meant to finish where, he would only give us 20 minutes break, anyway noticed this up on the notice board, grabed the manager and told him from now on im on a half hour break, so thats m,ean i will be finished at half 1 everyday, he grabbed the cwu rep and the rep told him straight, this is whats been given because the stupid DOM was insitant it was onver 5 hours 1 minute for half an hour break! anyway cheers:)

Re: Meal breaks attendance length.
Are the breaks included in your shift time, so on a 4 hr shift do you get 20 mins break and still only work 4hrs or do you have to work 4hrs 20?? They never really told me anything except breaks are unpaid and I have 4.5 hour shifts....so you think if you take your break youhave to leave work 20 mins later so don't take a break.

Sorry for quoting off topic but how is a 4.5 hour attendance supposed to work, at our place you'd have to arrive at work, get straight in the van and go on delivery, you'd only ever finish on time on a very quiet day.

Does this include overtime?
As in I am contracted to work 6hrs per day but I usually work overtime which varies between 2 and 4hrs per day

Re: Meal breaks attendance length.
Your meal relief is determined by the hours you actually work not your contracted hours.
In your case you would and should get a longer meal relief.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Good to know but that does mean that as I get paid breaks and didn’t know that I was entitled to them on my overtime that they’ve underpaid me for yearsclashcityrocker wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 19:58Your meal relief is determined by the hours you actually work not your contracted hours.
