The trial of a man accused of owning a “dangerously out of control” dog after his chihuahua allegedly bit the ankle of a postwoman ended in deadlock after a jury failed to reach a verdict.
Seven-year-old pet Louie, who is eight inches tall, was accused of attacking Amy Ash in Wimbledon last March, leaving her with two puncture wounds after “hanging off” her leg.
John Anslow, 63, denied a charge of being the owner of a dangerously out of control dog, causing injury in a public place.
A jury at Kingston crown court was discharged yesterday after failing to reach a verdict following nearly five hours of deliberation.
A hearing on February 7 will be held to decide if the prosecution will seek a retrial.
