A Scottish linoleum manufacturer has been fined £330,000 over the death of an employee. Oliver Byers, 55, was crushed to death at the Forbo Nairn plant in Kirkcaldy, Fife, in September 2007. At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, the firm admitted breaching health and safety laws by failing to provide a safe system of work. Mr Byers was fatally injured when the 600kg steel skip on a mechanical hoist descended silently and crushed him.
