Dear Colleagues,
RMG Driver/Road Safety – ‘Driving at a Safe Speed’ Campaign (RMG SHE Huddle/Briefing FY23 006):
Introduction:
The Royal Mail Group SHE Team are launching a ‘Driving at a Safe Speed’ driver and road safety communications campaign and staff huddle/briefing during the week commencing 30 January 2023 with the issue of RMG SHE Huddle/Briefing FY23 006 (copy attached) which has been loaded onto the RMG Intranet ‘Share Point’. Also attached is a copy of a ‘Campaign Poster’ which is supported jointly by ‘BRAKE’ the road safety charity and this will be displayed on the Royal Mail unit plasma screens during this week also.
Royal Mail Group, the CWU and Unite/CMA are jointly supporting this ‘Driving at a Safe Speed’ initiative which is about refreshing the important message that there is “no need to speed”. The campaign is about raising the awareness of all drivers, of Royal Mail, Parcelforce, RMP&FS and RMSS fleet vehicles, of the critically important issue of ensuring that they stick to speed limits, travel at safe speeds and understand why this is so important.
The campaign will concentrate on key messages to drivers and managers with the emphasis on how important it is for drivers to ensure that they don’t drive at excessive speed at any time.
While it might sound like an elementary campaign, first-hand evidence underlines the fact that there is still a need for basic education of a significant proportion of our drivers. There may be a minority who choose to ignore road safety messages but there’s good reason to believe a far larger number would act on the advice, if they were made aware of it. When it comes to road safety, it’s simple: ‘speed matters.’
In recent years over 1000 Royal Mail and Parcelforce drivers a year have been prosecuted and convicted of speeding offences whilst on duty. The minimum penalty for speeding is a £100 fine and 3 penalty points added to your drivers’ licence. More serious speeding offences will result in 6 penalty points, higher fines and a driving ban.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
