Actually despite all the sign around the office they ignore people wearing white trainers unless there is an audit on the way. I also use Military spec High Boots which are the best boots I have ever worn as a Postie and as a Serviceman. However, they do take a long time to wear in but are like a glove when broken in properly.

I have turned my ankle over 3 times wearing these 'Magnum ,shawaddywaddy, Gary Glitter, Sweet, Slade' platforms.
And my line manager asked me, "Did you read the little sticker on the box, advising you to cut the soles up with a knife?" I said "No, it did not occur to me that such a health and safety concious company would issue walking shoes that were produced to slip in the wet."
You couldn t make it up. RM send out these crap shoes then tell you that you should have looked for a sticker on the box warning you that the shoes are crap. Pass the buck please MR RM.
I bought some new tyres for my car the other day and I don t recall the man at Kwik Fit telling me to "eek out some patterns in the rubber, otherwide I might skid and crash!".

Planet Royal Fail -surreal world of RM
If you went into the likes of Millets for walking boots and the shop assistant told you to use glass/emery paper or even a knife on the soles before you went out in them you'd laugh at him/her thinking the assistant was puddled !greynut wrote:I have turned my ankle over 3 times wearing these 'Magnum ,shawaddywaddy, Gary Glitter, Sweet, Slade' platforms.

Solution to the Magnum grip problems!
I reluctantly had to get some of the Magnum Boots a couple of months ago (they're already starting to fall apart!
), and have had no problems with grip. The reason, is that I need the Toe Capped version. And they have a different sole.
So I would like to take this opportunity to srongly reccomend that you all order the Magnum Safety Boots. That way, you won't slip, and hurt yourselves. I've already made this suggestion on PMC, although I don't know whether anyone took my advice.
The way I see it: Why should you have to run the risk of having an accident, just because you need a different type of Boots to me?
They're no-where near as heavy as the old Doc Martin Safety Boots. So it shouldn't be a problem doing Deliveries in them. It's certainly worth a try isn't it?

I wear trainers cos they are safer. Last winter I refused to deliver to two homes with iced up paths. On return to orafice, told the boss and he say "but you must make the effort" I said "I aint breaking my neck for a fiver an hour after stopages." He then said "You aint wearing the proper shoes" I said "no cos they are dangerous in wet, why dont you have a look at the memo on the board that you put there der brain" he went red and said Ok then. I told H & S rep and he got H & S hit sqaud into the said orafice. they also slaughtered the idiot for insisiting I compromise my H & S.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

the missus had a slip the other week, done her back ,shoulder and knee in, this was all barring a bit of cloud cover perfect conditions and there was no oil/derv spillages or crisp packets or whatever underfoot to contribute to the accident.
I knew there was ltb's re these boots and got the H and S bod involved, to be honest we are lucky to have someone of his abilities working at our office, he's always got time always busy but always honest which some dont like but at least you know where you are and you know he's not lying to make you feel better or worse. He said you've been issued the old boots. get the accident recorded with the DSS they decide whether its an industrial accident. the merrygoround begins, but at least we are on it.
