In France La Poste gets Renault Clios - they've got to be an improvement on the Fords & Vauxhall Combos that we have to drive. The new LDV's are crap, too, you can't load nearly as much stuff on as you could the old ones.

For i cannot see why haveing 3/4/5 make's of vehicles makes any sense they should all be ford transits and all boot's shoe's should be doc martin's.

I've been told that we are to send peeling/splitting shoes/boots back and they will then replace them (after taking it up with the manufacturer) but the problem is that we'll have to walk around in bare feet until new ones arrive

IMHO Royal Mail are totally to blame so if you are out and fall on your derriere quite simply make the claim. Our National H&S Officer has quite rightly told RM that these Magnum style footwear are crap.

Well I like the sole as it has support for your arches and they are quite soft/cushioning to walk in on delivery...

BUT................

I do agree that the slip issue needs sorting out before somebody really does slip and hurt themselves badly...

And the fact that the *leather* peels off so quickly makes you feel a right scrubber walking about in such shoddy looking shoes, you have to wonder what the public think when they see such scruffy shoes on a postie..

I agree that they are comfortable, untill you slip and that make you turn your ankle over. Believe me there are comfortable walking boots out there that do not have these safety issues.

I think that you are being very unfair to the union - they would reach a compromise agreement - send the right one back and continue wearing the left one. Now what could be wrong with that?

the boots r shyte, put them on and the zip broke went back to wearing my old army boots much more comfortable and made of leather not lorica

I've had to go back to my old boots (which were tearing my feet apart but a hammer and a block of wood certainly softened them up) rather then risk the Magnums swimming pools any longer.

My Boots aren't going to last much longer, so I checked with my H&S Rep, and was told that I could wear ANY Safety Boots at work. Why does your DO have different rules?
If I were you, I'd get on to your H&S Rep, and try to get them to allow you to wear SAFE Safety Shoes. Although, I still think that It is rediculous that we should have to spend our own money on Uniform, or risk injuries!
