i am at present getting my pension and pay tax on it BUT i have handed in my resignation the date of my last day is 20 july 2013,when i retire my only income will be mry royal mail pension.
my question is how will this affect my tax and who should i contact my DOM told me he would contact the pension place

If your only income is your pension, that is the only thing you can pay tax on.
Contact the Inland Revenue on 0845 300 0627 and bring them up to speed with what is happening.
Have to hand your National Insurance and payroll numbers. Also have your tax reference number.
These can all be found on your payslip.
HR may pass on these details to your tax office but it does no harm for you to do it too.

Tax on pensions is worked out the same as for earnings, so if you're under 65 years old the first £9,440 you recieve is tax free for the tax year 2013/14, anything above that is taxable.
If your over 65 the allowance is £10,500 and the the over 75's it's £10,660
