It is a death in service benefit so I would imagine once you leave service it would no longer be paid. However there are certain benefits for dependants within the pension scheme. If I am correct pension benefits are guaranteed to be paid out for a minimum of five years, so if you snuffed it within the five years, dependants would receive the balance of payments outstanding for the five years as a lump sum together with dependants pension, and if there are dependant children, they would also receive a pension presumably until they reach a certain age.
