New Online Quote Forms Available

Post by NorthernBoy »

On the RMPP website you can now submit a request to get a valuation for taking your benefits early.

You have to be 55 or within 3 months of this age to get a quote, They will contact capita and request these figures as well.

I think previously you could only do this request by phone or email.

Might be useful for anyone who is thinking about taking their benefits before NRA.

Whilst, I suppose, this is progress it's still hugely inaccurate if it misses out any AVC's or cash balance funds you have. In my case those two combined are now over £100k which will significantly impact the accuracy of the quotes.

Thanks for this, very helpful, I've requested a valuation so lets see if they deliver

The site states on the calculator page ,if you are no longer contributing to the RMPP so can't use the calculator you can ask for a valuation here... press the link for valuation form and it reads. Before you ask for a valuation try the calculator for an estimate here... and it takes you back to the calculator page 😆

That message clearly applies to Post Office members of the RMPP, rather the RM members.

I'm no expert on the PO section, but my understanding is they stopped building up benefits in the RMPP in 2017 and were then offered a DC scheme instead.

They also went through a 'buy out' a few years later, which means some or all of their benefits are now paid by an insurance company.
Something which may also happen to the RM section in due course, as that is obviously now closed.

Looking at some of the documents concerning that, it seems the Post Office said the element of the surplus that applies to RMPP PO members should be distributed amongst them and not taken by the company.
It's a shame the RM and CWU aren't thinking along the same lines!!!! :thumbdown

Can you let people know how long it takes them to get the figures to you from your submission date. Hopefully not 3 months! Thanks.

Plus one from me, I'm going to request mine but I need to wait a couple of months until it's the minimum three months until my next birthday so would be interesting to know how long it takes.

From memory once I had finished submitting the online quote, the message stated that I would receive a letter within 15 working days and that they would also inform capita who would do the same, that's not a direct quote but the gist of the message. I filled in my quote around 4:30pm Friday (24th Jan) so will start counting working days from Mon 27th Jan so hopefully within fifteen working days should take me up to Valentine's day...if and when I receive my two quotes I will update on this post

The RMPP quote arrived today, my figures were slightly higher than last years pension statement and that is with over 15 % off (I'm only 61 and a half so 5% off per year taking it early) the forms and information were well laid out. I have until 3/ 03/ 25 to return the form if I want to take the Age65 reduced benefits. I still have to hear back from Capita with their quote, but guessing that's going to be a very small amount! I thing I read somewhere that Capita are on strike this week so that might delay things, anyway when I get the Capita quote I will update this thread

That’s a fairly quick response from RMPP, no surprise that capita have not yet replied.

I was told by the lady at Sheffield office , the RMPP and the new collective plan work from the same building but are now split into two different apartments. So maybe there's less workload now for RMPP and they can deal with requests quicker ? Shame about capita though.

Defiantly not enough to just retire but planning ahead, don't want to stay past Oct, but who knows what's round the corner with the USO reforms
