Taking pension at 55, how early should I contact them?

Post by NorthernBoy »

I turn 55 next year and am planning on taking my NRA 60 and 65 (subject to figures).

As such how early should I contact capita and RM to get a quote on my figures and ensure that I get them started from my 55th birthday. I also have some Avcs as well, do I contact them separately to sell my investments or will the pension teams do this.

For those that have done this how easy is it to do this and did you have any issues?

Many thanks.

I took my NRA60 at 55, I applied 4 months before but timeline may have changed since. RMPP very helpful but RMSPS a nightmare. AVC’s of £7000 paid along with 25% tax free pension lump sum. Monthly pension was delayed due to RMSPS but paid in full with interest. Two colleagues recently got their NRA60 on their 60th Birthday and one 4 weeks after.

I just rang Capita to take my pension at 59. Its 17 weeks away and was told it was too early. They said to ring back at 14 weeks.
