Sorry to hear that mate, but look on the bright side, not only have I lost £1800 per year off my pension with the recent changes, I was also advised that an Equitable Life Avc was a good thing by RM a good few years ago, as you can imagine it's not worth very much, remember there's always someone worse of then youbarclay wrote:I HAVE RECECENTLY RECEIVED MY AVC STATEMENT FROM NORWICH UNION.

YES,I WAS ALSO IN THE EQUITABLE LIFE AND LOST £2000 WHEN THE ROYAL MAIL MOVED IT FROM THERE AND PUT IN NORWICH UNION, BECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY A SAFER BET.
I THINK THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO PUT YOUR MONEY UNDER THE MATTRESS,THATS IF YOU HAVE GOT ANY LEFT.
PS, JUST GOT MY P.O.I.S STATEMENT,THATS GONE TITS UP AS WELL,SO STOPPED PAYING INTO THAT AS WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talking of pensions... has anyone who was in section "C" of the final salary pension, prior to the changes, noticed that the LEL (Lower Earnings Limit) of £3328 is still part of the equation?
That is to say, that that sum is deducted from your basic pay, before they calculate your pensionable pay, so isn't included towards pension. In other words, those members got shafted... again.
For those not in the know, the LEL was introduced around about 1987 as a way of limiting the companies liabilities for future pensions, similar to the recent changes.

That has been the case since the old POPS was started in 1987.heapsy wrote:Talking of pensions... has anyone who was in section "C" of the final salary pension, prior to the changes, noticed that the LEL (Lower Earnings Limit) of £3328 is still part of the equation?

You'd actually be better off putting in more now that shares prices are low as you get more for your money.barclay wrote:YES,I WAS ALSO IN THE EQUITABLE LIFE AND LOST £2000 WHEN THE ROYAL MAIL MOVED IT FROM THERE AND PUT IN NORWICH UNION, BECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY A SAFER BET.

Stopping altogether is your choice of course, but you might just regret it in the future.

I expect that little chap has long since returned to the leafy suburbs of Surrey from where he originally came, leaving the working Joes to pick up the tab for his "political" acts.
Judging by his clothes and the way he looks all neat and tidy, he's more PS2 warrior than street warrior, but then it was ever thus for the Wolfies....

It's the same with every pension no matter where you work, who you work for and no matter which one of our schemes you're in?heapsy wrote:Talking of pensions... has anyone who was in section "C" of the final salary pension, prior to the changes, noticed that the LEL (Lower Earnings Limit) of £3328 is still part of the equation?

True though look at the Scarman report, check out how much funding went into Broadwater Farm ,Toxteth,St Pauls; how long did the Poll tax survive: how long did it take them to make changes in NI as soon as lloyds ,the City and big money became the targets of choice, three decades nothing alters then bingo
Bye

Does anyone out there think as I do? That if this country isn't carefull, there will be a huge pensions crisis in the future, with not enough saved, and an ever increasing burden on the tax payers due to the cost of the benefits we are having to shell out? This is compounded by the fact that there are more and more part-time workers than ever before.
