Which RM pension are you in?
What type of IHR have you been given?

Going by the RMPP website:

If you've been given IHR with 'income benefit', and you have Age60/65 benefits, you may be able to take your pension and DBCBS without any reduction.
Contact HR.

https://www.royalmailpensionplan.co.uk/ ... ing-early/

If you've been given IHR with 'lump sum', your Age60/65 pension can be taken anytime after age 55 but will be reduced for early payment if taken before NRA.
Contact the pensions people.

If you're actually in the RMDCP, you have a pot of money with options.
Contact the Scottish Widows RM Team.
