The Bank of England had to step in today to help out Pension Funds due to the sharp drop in Bond prices.
It doesn't look good does it?
Prepare for another Pension haircut!
It's not good, but I agree with other posters on here, you're thinking too short term as far as the RMPP is concerned.

Just because the s**t has hit the fan recently, doesn't mean things can't be recovered over the longer term.
No chance of any recovery we are heading for a systematic failure, the Government has monetised the whole welfare budget for the past 10 years, i.e we haven't been taking in enough tax to cover our liabilities.
Too many people taking out of the system and not enough paying in, this means will will have a total collapse of the financial system.
No chance of a recovery ever and government policy, which ever party is in power, will never change to rectify things? That will be the case for all eternity?

You heard it here first. :cuppa

To be honest i think no matter what anyone says you are seeing the 'end of the world' scenario at every turn...hey ho your choice
Whatever happens i wil be buying even more funds/units etc etc etc...no matter how much they fall
We make our choice let the dice roll

I take it you haven't seen today's News, whereby the Bank of England had to step in to stop Pensions from imploding.

Well it looks like you will be starting from zero then.
You can't have viable economy with a failing currency, huge debt and massive energy costs.
I'm afraid it's terminal, the UK is fast becoming an emerging market economy.

I'm not scaremongering, Pension Schemes went bust yesterday until the Bank of England intervened.
Maybe you could challenge my views with valid arguments rather than burying your head in the sand.

As far as i am aware the BoE did the job that they are supposed to do and they stepped in to save the day and prop up the economy.

As reported on Radio5Live earlier this afternoon as Nahal was interviewing one of his regular clever finance guests (sorry didn't catch the guest name).

I think this might be available on BBC Sounds as a podcast ?

I hope this information helps to put all of our minds at ease.

I often wondered what happened to those people who used to hang around Oxford Street with a "The End is Nigh" sandwich board.
It seems they hang around chat forums now instead.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Yes the Bank of England printed more money to bail out our Pensions, do you think the Bank of England can keep printing unlimited amounts of money without trashing the Pound via even higher inflation?
Our Pensions are so safe they would have went bust without a massive intervention from The Bank of England :Applause

Yes, Kwarteng should have cut Government spending before cutting taxes.
Unfortunately the Problem remains that Pension funds are too exposed to Government debt and the UK Government doesn't look very creditworthy.
Does anyone know if our Pension is exposed to leveraged interest rate swaps?
