Collective plan annual adjustment

Post by Jaggs »

An LTB from the CWU has just gone out saying that benefits built up to 31st March 25 have been adjusted by 6.4% for the income for life section and the lump sum has been increased by 7.6% to be applied on 31st March 26

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Is there any reason letters were sent out this month rather than in April, meaning that the figures shown are only up to March 2025 rather than March 2026?

A 6% return is pretty low when even a FTSE100 tracker would have generated returns over 10%.

Ah great. I tried registering online, and it didn't work. Another great idea from Royal Fail.

It's because it is only the benefits built up to the end of March 2025 that have an adjustment applied to them at the end of March 2026.

Also the adjustments to the income for life and lump sum sections isn't what the investments returned for any given year because the advisors and trustee have to look at what they think is a sustainable increase over the long term.

Is the Collective plan not invested in sustainable investments ? - which i believe tend to perform less well on average than standard investments (at least from what i have read-no expert of course).

Anyone feel free to correct me as i am not sure on the above !

Yes indeed, we can look forward to a Net Zero Pension.

Yes when they initially sent out the letter explaining it, was straightforward and easy.

Agree - i can safely say that the vast majority of us only care about getting the best return in our pensions and could care less whether it is sustainable or not.
