as far as I`m aware, your actual duty doesn`t matter as all shift allowances apply to duty attendance times. these are the current allowances according to start time.

dawn 0201-0400 £30.15
early 1. 0401-0500 £16.05
early 2 0501-0500 £8.01
evening 2000-2139 £22.50
lates 2140-0159 £48.35
nights 3 hrs worked across 2300-0500 £48.35 + £43.17
all pensionable except the £43.17 additional night allowance.

Good point about the pro rata, I'm not sure about that but I'd lean towards it not making a difference as it's based on the duty start time.

More questions.

Had my first pay slip and I think the night allowance is wrong.

I assume the 90 odd quid a week is for a full time duty of 36.25h, so that's about £2.50 extra per hour. So if I work 20 hour a week, my allowance should be about £49.65 a week? Circa £200 a month?

Can someone confirm or correct me if I'm wrong please? Thank you

The just under £90 a week is for 38 hours , so for 20 hours would be around £47.35.

Jesus, I remember that NDA (night duty allowance) was paid for all hours worked between 7 at night and 6 in the morning. All overtime during these hours was also night allowance paid. That's why I worked a lot of Saturday night's double time, plus shift allowance, plus HGV allowance. That's when you could make decent money and your rocket had gaffers signatures all over it. Yes the job is f****d.
