Our Leicester mail processing unit (MPU) has won an International Safety Award with Merit from the British Safety Council for protecting colleagues from the risk of injury and ill health at work.
Royal Mail is one of 300 organisations to win a Merit in the 2017 International Safety Awards
Now in their 59th year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world which have demonstrated their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill-health during the previous calendar year.
This year, 578 organisations, spanning all sectors and drawn from the UK, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, won an International Safety Award; 31 organisations were awarded a Distinction, 300 organisations were awarded a Merit and 200 organisations achieved a Pass.
Mike Robinson, chief executive of the British Safety Council said: ‘The British Safety Council commends Royal Mail’s Leicester MPU on its achievement. The award is in recognition of its commitment and efforts to keep employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.’
South Midlands safety advisor, Marc King said: ‘It’s a great achievement that Leicester MPU not only represented Royal Mail but was recognised with a merit for the commitment it has shown in keeping people safe while at work. There has been a great deal of hard work that has gone into making Leicester MPU, Royal Mail’s largest delivery office, a safe place to work and this is great credit to everyone who works there.’
