For the Immediate Attention of All:

LOGISTICS UPDATE - ACTIVITY VALUE ANALYSIS (AVA)

Dear Colleagues

Branches will be aware that LTB 724/16 communicated the Terms of Reference between Royal Mail and the CWU Covering the Joint Review of Activity Value Analysis (AVA), which provided details of the process to be adopted in relation to activity in the Processing, Admin and Logistics functions.

In line with the processes outlined in the aforementioned Terms of Reference, activity will now commence in Logistics to assess the roles and responsibilities that are associated to the Transport Admin Office role in both the Network and Area Distribution functions.

Attached to this LTB is an example of the form that should be used to record the required information. However, Branches and representatives should note that we have confirmed and agreed with Logistics that the objective of the data gathering activity is to establish and agree the standard tasks associated to the Transport Admin Role. It is not intended to be, nor will it be, used as a performance indicator and as such the form should be completed without individual names being included.

We are sure you will understand that it is imperative that the information is provided as soon as possible, that the details provided are accurate and that the document is signed off by the relevant Area Distribution Representative to ensure full CWU involvement in the process is maintained.

LGV and Area Distribution Representative input and validation in relation to this data will be invaluable in ensuring that we have the correct information to maintain a meaningful involvement in this process going forward and as such we extend our thanks in anticipation of their assistance in relation to this issue.

Branches and representatives should note that at this stage this is a data gathering exercise only and that all information gathered will be collated and analysed by the National Joint Steering Group, prior to recommendations being provided to the National Logistics Steering Group for progression.

Any enquiries in relation to this LTB should be addressed to Davie Robertson, Assistant Secretary, email: dwyatt@cwu.org or shayman@cwu.org quoting reference number: 052.

Yours sincerely

Davie Robertson

Assistant Secretary
