We’re launching a pilot project to transport goods for other companies in our vehicles.

The scheme will generate revenue for the business by absorbing this work onto existing Royal Mail and Parcelforce routes. It goes live this week at four vehicle operating centres: Bridgend, Northern Home Counties, NDC, and Yorkshire distribution centre.

Our national distribution director, Wayne Jay, said: ‘This is a fantastic chance to embrace the growth opportunities we know the market place offers. I’m looking forward to working closely with our professional coaches, managers, and customers to develop it.’

The pilot will last six months and the project team is working with a number of interested customers to transport products such as food. We’re asking drivers to volunteer and the team hopes to get as many involved as possible.

Processes are in place to support drivers involved in the trial. Detailed briefs and training will be provided to pilot sites and a joint CWU and Royal Mail statement has been issued.

‘I know many of our drivers will welcome this activity and I look forward to hearing their ideas and feedback over the duration of the pilot,’ said Wayne.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Near enough every day there is some issue with either an MC or a DC according to the daily Royal Mail service update email I get.
Mail is delayed everyday for some reason or another.

Good luck.

If we think there's problems at RM wait till they are held up at an RDC for 4 or 5 hrs,I'd be very surprised if this works.

Long term I wouldn't be surprised to see at least all RDC-RDC and RDC-MC work outsourced
