Buy Down Work Hour

Post by mkraza »

Hi there,

I have few quick questions on behalf of my colleagues, any help will be appreciated:

1) A fulltime colleague 8 year service wants to become part time (20hrs per week), will he eligible to apply for buy down..?
2) A fulltime colleague 20 year service wants to become part time (20hrs per week) and 20hrs buy down...what is procedure and how much chances for buy down..
Thank You in advance

Have managers been asking around in your office about people reducing your hours? If so, both should put in for it. Beyond that, their odds will vary based on your office and what has been agreed with the union and a million other things.

If management hasn't agreed this with the union, their odds of getting paid to reduce their hours are nil. They might be able to swing from being full-time to part-time but that's about it.

Search on this website for the Managing The Surplus Framework (MTSF) agreement for a much fuller explanation about how it goes.
