Proof Of Right To Work In The Uk - Royal Mail Logistics


Branches and representatives will recall that activity took place in 2011 in regard to a Royal Mail data gathering exercise to obtain information required in respect of an individual's Proof Of Right To Work in the UK (LTB 381/11 refers).


The Proof Of Right To Work is a legal requirement for both employees and employers. Royal Mail have informed the department that following a review of information held by them, it has come to light that there are approximately 200 employees within the Logistics function, employed between 1997 and 2004, who do not have the relevant data recorded in their personal file. Incomplete employee records could result in fines of thousands of pounds being imposed on the business by the UK Border Agency.


Therefore the business will be contacting the individuals who have been identified in order to obtain the relevant information from them.


The activity is due to begin week commencing 13th July 2015. Attached for your information are a WTLL brief and FAQ's sheet which have been produced by the business to explain the process and answer some potential questions that may be raised.


All data collected will of course be handled confidentially and in accordance with the data protection requirements.
