Wedding day off

I have given 10 months notice for a particular day off for my sons wedding, it was refused, since then I have requested 3 times for the day off stating it's my son's wedding, and I was given NO RESPONSE.. I OBVIOUSLY will be going but I just don't feel comfortable with this...
What can I do?

If not already, submit your request in writing and if you get a negative response keep writing until you do, RM want nearly two years notice of our annual leave, so giving them 10 months notice for one day's annual leave is not too much to ask for, good luck in your endeavour.

The problem is of course Is that I WILL BE AT THE WEDDING, but they are forcing my hand to go off sick!!! which of course can be looked at as fraud..because we get paid.
The money isn't the issue..are there any rules regarding such days off as weddings etc?..should I get the union involved as they are FORCING MY HAND?

Ask your manager why they can't grant the day off, there maybe a reasonable reason behind this like all the days have been allocated already. You can then apply for special leave without pay for that day which should be granted. Hope this helps.

Thanks Celtic Warrior, I'm going to see my manager today.

Unfortunately my line manager is a dick...We simply just don't get along. So i will give his boss a try...This wedding has been 12 months in the planning, and I asked for the day off 10 months ago, you would think that would be plenty of warning.

Urgent Domestic Distress? I'm sure it would be for me if I told my Mrs I couldn't go to something as important as this.
