More closure rumours

I work at DMC (BH/DT codes) and our 2c Horizon packets ( less often 1c) are now being sent on to Swindon to be sorted. A rumour has been started, via a manager, about a severe cut back in our work and possibly our site becoming a super DO for Poole rather than a MC. I doubt this will happen any time soon, DT is classed as remote and DMC serves Jersey/Guernsey and is near to Bournemouth Airport but the rumour is "changes in the near future". I can envisage all packets being sent to Swindon after being separated into 1c and 2c but this would still leave plenty of work for us in the short to medium term. Long term who knows? Not our guilty rumour monger I'd bet! Do you think some managers get a buzz from spreading this kind of thing?

Rumours doing the rounds at JMC is that we might lose work and duties to the new Super MC in Hampshire (SO/PO) when it opens and Greenford most probably just outward work.

Is the plan that SO will relocate from where it is so both long term current PO & SO MCs closing. There was always talk of Petersfield and the further south GU DOs collection work going to PO as it is a distance to JMC

The old Ford site perhaps? Anyone know what the current status is of that old Ford site? If RM were to buy it they could have a new MC bigh enough to take at least all the BH,DT,SO,SP, and PO area and have an RDC on the same site and with it being very near the railway main line they could have some kind of small rail terminal. I would imagine that any new super MC where-ever in the country would be highly automated with PSMs, FSMs, iLSMs (not sure what RM would do for a culling and facing machine), CSS. Obviously there probably wouldn't be so many xray machines.

The Fords site is still in operation,but only as a storage depot for American import 4x4 pick ups etc.
I believe a final decision on POMC is made in March,although it's all but certain to close.SOMC does all the 2c,and a phased start to 1c is due to start this year.
I can't see any "super MC" for Hampshire in the near future (>5 Years),but who knows what the powers that be have planned?

No its even simpler than that - its the old "I know something you don't" making them feel more important than they are.

Which I would have thought mean that its better to keep any definite information to themselves so that they maneuver, plot and arrange a safe base for themselves before everyone else.

Both the bragging and the failure to think ahead seem to indicate some congential dysfunction among some non CWU grades.

i know its early days,but nothing has changed in my mail centre since privatisation.same old silly mistakes by managers,same old shoulder shrugging,same old tired attitude and same old treatment of staff.change is most definatly coming when total ownership arrives,but in the meantime the sleep-walk continues.how these managers will keep their jobs i do not know.
