Sick Pay Entitlement

Hi,
New to this so please bear with me. Can anybody tell me if I will be entitled to sick pay and how much? I am a 20 hour, temporary contract, OPG at a Mail Centre and had an operation on my arm last Thursday which will /take more healing than both me and the /experts predicted. My arm is in a half cast and I have stitches. I rang in sick on Friday with the intention of going back in today. The hospital has given me a sick note for 2 weeks but in a nutshell I cannot really afford to be off work and miss being paid. I can/could probably get away with doing my shift but I know for at least the next few days I will be in quite a lot of pain.

I've heard on the grapevine that I would get my full hours pay entitlement for the duration of my sick note, can anybody clarify this? I'm not looking for a skive but I don't want to extend my healing time by not resting my arm as much as I should.

If you have been employed over a year you will get full sick pay, less than a year then you will only be entitled to ssp.
