cant do that as only posties have been balloted for industrial action, they can get the engineers etc to come out with us, they are employed by a different company so would need to ballot them separately, also not sure if anguard staff will/could be called out either due to them working for a completely separate company

The sacrifice would be too much for too many and the strike would crumble. I think an all out extended strike would be a strategic mistake.

Depends which Engineers you're talking about. ROMEC blokes are entirely separate, but Processing Engineers are RM staff and also affected by changes in terms and conditions, pensions, etc.
Angard staff are agency staff, and rather than be called out on strike (which would be a totally pointless exercise) they'll be the ones called in to do the postie stuff.

If I were planning it I'd probably do a rotating 3 day ... collections/delivery, processing, distribution for 5 working days each >>> 3 weeks that RM senior management would never forget.

However I still believe IA should be the VERY last resort and all efforts to reach an agreement should be made. Unrealistic that it may be I think T&C guarantees should be at least 7 years with an agreement to revisit DO workload and revision planning and totally revise the B&H/grievance investigation procedure.

I wonder if the T&C will always be addressed in every agreement ie being renewed my big worry is that in 3years RM saying that to be competive we need to take a paycut, end senority, etc etc etc and I reckon the people who are bellyaching about going out will be moaning about the union not doing their job. This is the time to fight as we don't really have a choice but the aims have to be realistic but fair. I think we may have to accept the pension consultation in return for T&C for life. But I do agree its a pipedream but I think we can win that part of the war.
