CONDUCT CASES – BRISTOL MAIL CENTRE

We have received a particularly high level of calls over the past ten days that relate to ongoing conduct cases at Bristol Mail Centre.

Concern has been expressed about the manner in which these cases are being conducted and it is obvious that people feel strongly. We are also receiving requests for “gate meetings”.

Whilst I cannot comment directly about the cases at the moment it seems clear that one in particular, is an attack on the CWU at the Mail Centre.

We have raised our concerns with management both informally and through the formal process itself.

We are paying particular attention to how these cases develop but given the feeling at Bristol Mail Centre this is not a situation that we can allow to drag on indefinitely.

Next week the CWU Annual Conference is being held, but I will be publishing dates for gate meetings upon my return. We will then be able to discuss our next steps.
