World Class Mail
Has anyone seen any tangible benefits from WCM either in a Mail Centre or Delivery Unit.
Aside from the important safety issue of teaching me to walk up the stairs on the left hand side AND use the handrail provided plus loads of charts and graphs that make most units look like and early learning centre – I can’t see much that couldn’t have been achieved as part as business as usual.
There is of course the fact that WCM has the ONLY budget for hospitality (and they know how to use that one!) and the career progression of those managers lucky enough to be on one of the teams or incapable enough not to be wanted anywhere else.
Nearly forgot ... the new HCN Mail Centre at Hemel, set up using WCM from day one and that's working really well ;)

Come on, mate. As soon as this mob used the words "world class" in relation to the shoddy cheapskate service they provide, most of us switched off, completely.

WCM in DO's is teaching us how to....deliver mail.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

My frame has moved position 3 times for no reason I can see. Although I do now have more storage space - does that count as a benefit.Budfrog wrote:Has anyone seen any tangible benefits from WCM either in a Mail Centre or Delivery Unit.

Re: World Class Mail
Ask any office with WCM in place the questions "how much has it cost us so far"?
You won't be dissapointed when you get the answer "we don't know"??
For a company that is trying to save money, it is leaking like a sieve on WCM and no one is help accountable for the money they are spending.
Which as the saying goes World Class Mail is really "WASTING COMPANY MONEY"!!

Not seen one single benefit to improve working conditions. Total farce really can't believe some of the ideas they have come up with and also some of the clowns involved are just in it for the extra cash. Who is fooling who is the question????????????????

Re: World Class Mail
The worrying thing about a continuous improvement program is that you tend to get your best ideas, biggest improvements and biggest savings early in the process and then the program tails off as people naturally run out of ideas.
If this is sum total of our best ideas we really are in bigger trouble than we think.

Very true and the other thing that Is apparent is there is little benchmarking between one WCM and another or sharing of good practise. In true RM style everyone is trying to invent the wheel at the same time, duplicating effort and resource.fishtank wrote:The worrying thing about a continuous improvement program is that you tend to get your best ideas, biggest improvements and biggest savings early in the process and then the program tails off as people naturally run out of ideas.

Re: World Class Mail
I find one of the most alarming things about WCM is the fact that Annual Leave can be dished out left right and centre for doing WCM tasks like drawing or winning a days leave in a competition! Goes against Way Forward criteria and those who have no interest in WCM just feel alienated! Favouritism gone mad!

Re: World Class Mail
I upset one of the processing managers today about WCM, all I did was ask her how "World Class Fail" was going and she copped the right hump lol.
To be honest all I can see them doing with WCM is trying to idiot proof the job in the Mail Centres. So someone with no training and not the slightest idea how to do the job can walk in off the street and after looking at some wall charts start cracking on with whatever job he's given. Then if he gets stuck, back to the wall chart cos that will see him straight.
What makes me laugh is the wall charts have lots of hand drawn pictures of people pushing yorkes and sorting etc to show how to do the various jobs. Quite a few people have drawn crude penises on some of them or written "prick" "w****r" etc much to the anger of the WCM champs

Re: World Class Mail
I had a walk round Norwich MC and I am amazed how they got a bronze award.
The place was a tip.
It seems the only time it is kept tidy and nice is when an audit is to take place - is that how WCM = wasting company money, is supposed to work!!
