We are reviewing our mail processing operations in Cambridge, Gloucester and Shrewsbury as part of our wider, ongoing review of our mail centre network.

There will be a six month consultation expected to conclude in the summer.

It’s being carried out on the terms of the agreement between us and the CWU for modernising the business endorsed by postmen and women in a national ballot in April 2010.

The process will involve CWU and Unite CMA.

Why change?
We need to respond to the huge growth in electronic communications and the resulting decline in overall mail volumes.

We are now delivering 59 million items a day compared with 84 million items a day six years ago.

Our revenue has been declining as the number of addresses (nearly 29 million) increases.

Consulting our people
As proposals are developed, they will be shared with unions and colleagues who will be given every opportunity to provide input.

We aim to minimise any job reductions.

Our intention is to make changes without compulsory redundancies.

By asking people to demonstrate reasonable flexibility, we expect to be able to find roles for everyone who wants to continue to work for us.

Our customers
Reviewing our mail centre operations is vital to put our business on a secure and sustainable footing.

Change is absolutely essential to meet customers’ expectations of a world class postal service, ensure we operate efficiently and provide a great quality of service in a smaller and radically changing market.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We aim to.....

Our intention is to .....

:hmmmm

Variations on "....overarching objective is to....." from BT2010. Aims and intentions are a far cry from guarantees.
